Heavenly Body Products Feature Michael Jackson Novelties

Whether you consider yourself to be one of “God’s people” or not, there is one universal truth: cleanliness is indeed next to godliness, and those who don’t smell and look fresh will make everyone around them say a prayer of some kind… sometimes loudly. While I never personally considered any religious connection between the soaps and body products that I use, I’m happy to share a story with you today about an entrepreneurial venture that is based upon a message that anyone can appreciate. Looking to Toptenwholesale.com and its network of sites manufacturer.com, wholesaleu.com, and offpricenetwork.com to help buyers to connect directly with the wholesaler or manufacturer of choice… is surely always a good start, but what about finding the desire, passion, and motivation to fire off on a successful venture in the first place? It’s often a daunting goal to become a wholesaler or online seller, especially when it seems like there’s so much competition, challenge, and information to wade through.

HBPimageHome

A man by the name of Sir Markadoo illustrates exactly what happens when an ordinary person takes their extraordinary belief – whatever it may be founded upon – and allows it to shape the future by creating an unstoppable will to succeed. Much like the recently-departed Michael Jackson, this company’s founder has been doing things the hard way… by working to provide each and every customer with the highest level of service and satisfaction! In this case, it was back in 1994 when Sir Markadoo decided to buy two dozen T-shirts, and printed religious messages on them. From this one step, his business was launched, and a year later his operation had expanded to a 700 square foot space that held a variety of products including fragrances, body oils and lotions, as well as bath and shower gels. Because of his drive to provide the best products at the best possible prices, the company quickly found itself housed in a 2,500 square foot facility. Today the company is known as Heavenly Body Products International, and it is operating within a 10,000 square foot warehouse in Decatur, Georgia USA. His business is flourishing, and covers both the needs of wholesalers and retailers alike. This – coupled with a strong online presence – has propelled the company to new highs, and shows a great deal of promise to further expand into other markets as well.

As a wholesaler, Heavenly Body Products International has been helping entrepreneurs with their own business dreams, by helping them launch their own small businesses with $100 starter kits of either body products or T-shirts. Sounds simple, because it is simple. In a wholesaler capacity, Heavenly Body Products International helps entrepreneurs launch their own small business with $100 starter kits of either body products or T-shirts. With a company creed that states “We help God’s people prosper,” and Sir Markadoo’s personal belief that helping people make today’s dreams the realities of tomorrow by giving them the tools to work hard for themselves and prosper, there’s a chance for anyone reading this right now to get a business started!

Some important points to consider:

  • This is a company that strives to create a long term committed team of employees, each of whom is equally important to the overall success of the organization.
  • Delivering excellent service by a friendly, efficient and well-trained staff is the priority.
  • Offering a consistent product of high quality and value was the foundation.
  • Pursuing success by fostering an entrepreneurial, sales focused culture.
  • Aggressively pursuing financial growth and success, making it further evident that customer relationships are still a company’s best friend!
  • Operating by the tenet of: “We Help God’s People Prosper!”

Heavenly Body Products International is a family owned business responsive to the needs of their associates and employees.  They are dedicated to providing a positive experience for each of their associates, and believe that every customer should feel cared for and valued.

TopTen Report: Dollar Days Recession-Buster!

I’m pretty confused. The headlines are all about a recession one day and a recovery the next, Ben Bernanke is assuring me that  the financial crisis is over, and the price of gold is making my head spin. Brazil is boosting its export market to the USA, and I’m sitting here in Hangzhou, China… watching the country continue to build, build, build. It’s a lot for me to wrap my head around. It probably is for you, too. While leading verticals like Toptenwholesale.com and its network of sites (manufacturer.com, wholesaleu.com, offpricenetwork.com) help buyers locate general merchandise, apparel, accessories, gifts, electronics, handbags, jewelry, toys, and more… there’s a few others in the industry that seem to have a better handle on reality than most right now. A great example of one of them is DollarDays, a wholesale distributor who offers some superb options to the people who are either preparing for lean times in the job market… or maybe even those who are looking for something to bring revenue in while they are unemployed!

dollardays_wholesale_sun_logo

Let’s face it, in the middle of this non-recession(?), it pays to have a set of alternatives up your sleeve. I’ve mentioned the rise of opportunities during these economic hard times before, and I’ll say it again: this kind of market presents a lot of chances to service customers who are looking for the best deals, and the most personalized service. While the big box retailers do fine at their job of moving massive amounts of goods, they fail at identifying each customer’s needs on a case-by-case basis. This is where you step in, and make everything right for the frustrated consumer who needs immediate attention! DollarDays offers a whole bunch of advice for aspiring entrepreneurs as well as a quick-install, affordable option to start your own online store.

Here’s some additional highlights:

  • This is a company that sells over 25,000 different wholesale goods on its website, and they are very interested in helping you to begin and grow your own business.
  • Visitors have a choice between getting set up through their affiliate program, or by allowing the option to stock and sell their own goods.
  • While there are hundreds – if not thousands – of sites that sell DollarDays goods, there are also plenty of brick and mortar stores that stock their products as well.
  • If you don’t have the space to stock products, DollarDays offers a convenient drop-ship program that allows venders to drop-ship certain products by the piece.
  • If you plan on buying a lot of goods from DollarDays, you can enroll in their Platinum Program, which could mean huge savings for you.

Look out for the twitter and facebook links on their site as well, and while you’re at it… make sure you get connected to our pages as well, where you can sign up to receive tweets, feeds, and updates from us about all the ways you’ll continue to Find it. Source it. Profit!

R.G. Riley: Profile of an Off-Price Powerhouse!

What makes a seller successful? In simple terms, it all comes down to how well you manage your business, and how easy you make it for the customer to take part in a transaction, right? Well, that’s the boring textbook version… while you can easily find a huge array of companies like these on the pages of Toptenwholesale.com and its network of sites featuring manufacturer.com,wholesaleu.com,andoffpricenetwork.com, I’d like to point out that one particular seller is certainly worthy of being featured in today’s blog post: R.G. Riley.

riley screen cap

“All the consumers are looking for a value, so we’re

able to provide that value and that price because of

the volume we buy.”

R.G. Riley proves that sticking to a game plan is crucial to success, by offering only wholesale closeouts and graded irregular t-shirts, sweat shirts, sweat pants and related active wear. With featured products from Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Gildan, Badger, Russell,  Delta, and other labels… this company has been in the business of bringing customers the right fit at the right price for over 75 years. Simplicity seems to be the theme with this powerhouse seller too, as they  specialize in case lot prepacks, which are sold by the case. Determining unit cost is as simple as dividing the case price by the number of prepack units. Anyone can do this kind of math! In addition to a simple selling strategy, R.G. Riley’s high-volume inventory changes by over 40,000 dozen per week. Visit their website sometime, to find everything you need from the company’s main contact information, links to tradeshow activity, a public online catalog and a secure online ordering system. They even offer a web site help page that explains the online catalog and ordering modules in detail, and an FAQ page that addresses many common questions and provides additional information about ordering, delivery, and company terms and policies. If that isn’t enough, you can even check out their facility by taking a virtual tour with online pictures, too!

R.G. Riley is an outstanding wholesale clothing distributor featuring inexpensive clothing, including irregular clothing and overstock apparel. Their customers include discount stores, chain stores, food and drug stores, ebay.com merchants, flea market vendors, dollar stores, general merchandise stores, thrift and goodwill stores, as well as charitable organizations. They will also be on display next year, at the following venue:

Off-Price Specialist Show

February 14 through February 17th, 2010

Las Vegas, Nevada

Sands Convention center

Salon A

As a leader in the off-price wholesale clothing industry, R.G. Riley asks do you resell inexpensive irregular clothes and off-price apparel? Do you need irregular clothing and overstock wholesale apparel in all size ranges from Mens, Missy, Boys, Girls, Infant, Toddler, and Plus Sizes? If the answer is yes, then you should make a call, send an email, or at least browse their site today!

Black Friday: Electronics and Cameras Expected to Sell Out!

Black Friday is coming fast, and with it come the possibilities of selling out your inventory of electronics and cameras, too! Are you ready for the electronics rush? In order to forecast what will be hot this time around, taking a walk down memory lane and getting a quick look at last year’s figures for what sold over Black Friday would be a good idea… but I’m going to go just a little further back on the timeline, by showing some figures from the 2007 season’s hot picks first:

  • Women’s Boots
  • Watches
  • Blu-ray/HD-DVD Players
  • Women’s Sleep & Lounge Wear
  • Games & Puzzles
  • Women’s Jackets
  • Music
  • Headphones
  • Women’s Dresses
  • Women’s Casual Shoes

Interesting how the electronics category didn’t seem to make such a big impression on this set of 2007 data, eh? Now let’s take a look at last year’s Black Friday sales winners:

  • Nintendo Wii Console
  • UGG Australia Boot
  • Sony Blu-Ray Disc Player
  • Samsung LCD TV
  • Nintendo Wii Fit
  • Panasonic Plasma TV
  • Sennheiser HD Headphones
  • Canon EOS Rebel SLR Digital Camera Kit
  • Acer Aspire Notebook
  • Canon PowerShot Digital Camera

celeb uggs

This time, electronics positively smashed the other categories, and it looks like the only other noteworthy item that even made it onto the list was those puffy-looking Aussie boots. I don’t really know what that means (about the inexplicable popularity of UGG boots, that is) but two things I would take away from this history lesson would be that:

Things change pretty fast.

Electronics will most likely occupy a large part of next year’s list.

LCD_Flat_Screen_TV

hp lappie

Be aware of what the big electronics retailers are doing, because they have wisely been changing up their strategies to compensate for this year’s dismal projections on holiday sales… and they’re also turning increasingly towards the rapidly-growing online shopping forum – your territory(!) – for some added consumer spending to flow their way. Remember those cute little mail-in rebates that Best Buy, Walmart, OfficeMax, and other big-box centers were tossing around at the checkout aisle? I don’t expect them to repeat that move, since a tidal wave of consumer complaints left people feeling bitter… and feeling a lot better about getting instant satisfaction online with e-coupons and discount codes. You could be the one to offer this, along with better service and more personalized attention.

Stay tuned, because I’ll have a list of predictions for you to feast your eyes on… when I post my blog about TopTen Trends for Computers and Electronic Accessories!

Glimpse Into the Chinese Night Markets…

Hangzhou, China: there is a regular and common phenomenon of vendors who fill the streets at night to provide a thriving, exciting, sometimes illegal, and highly enlivening moment of wholesale at its best – or worst, depending upon who you ask – that should not be a total mystery to those of you who have yet to visit the PRC.

In an effort to bring the news directly to you, I have taken a moment to put together a little video clip of the 10:30pm scene outside of one of Hangzhou’s biggest and most popular retail attractions, the InTime Shopping Center. It’s a large and modern shopping haven for anyone who likes to spend top-dollar (or renminbi, in this case) for name-brand apparel and goods from all parts of the Western world. However, at night the situation is totally reversed, as the factories give their ‘emergency liquidators’ a special deal, and shave off some of that excess inventory at blow-out prices.

Check out my video clip:
Glimpse Into the Chinese Wholesale_ Retail Night Markets

Sales cycles for goods that don’t make it off the rack, or maybe don’t even make it to the distribution points can be interesting. With a population in excess of 1.4 billion, China’s retail sector is a logistical nightmare that often makes the control of goods a very challenging thing to grapple with. Instead of being afraid of it, most vendors simply look for the best and most ‘auspicious’ times to move their merchandise, and it’s only a matter of time before it’s funneled down to the lowest-level outlets for sale and eventual integration into the consumer pool… even if that pool looks more like a raging torrent.

What can you learn from the sellers working the streets of China? It’s not very different from what we do in the USA… because at the end of the day, it’s all about making those closeout/wholesale items move!

Wholesale Import offers Value Priced Goods

This article was written by Scott McMillin from Wholesale Import. They have been in the wholesale and import business since before my time in this industry, and I have seen consistent growth for the last 5 years. Even during these rough economic times, Michelle and Scott’s Wholesale Imports are still seeing sales growth so I asked him how he does it. Here is what he had to say:

Michelle and Scott’s Wholesale Imports have seen substantial sales increases in the past few years amid downturn economy.
Why?
Many of our items are value priced. Earrings, Necklace and Earring Sets, Bracelets, Beauty Supplies, Hair Accessories and many other items and categories have many SKUs selling for $6.50 per dozen sets or less. Customers who historically have sold more expensive items have found out that by switching to a lower price point item, they can sustain their sales and even increase the margin they are making. The end customer out there is looking to save money and get a larger bang for their buck. Michelle and Scott’s specialize in selling individual stores and providing very fast shipping service and low minimums so that the customer can reduce the amount of inventory they have to carry at one time.
Low prices, Good Value, Fast Service and Low Minimums all contribute to the remarkable success of Michelle and Scotts Wholesale Imports and the customers who use them as their fashion accessory supplier.

Wholesale Dropshipping Better Than Ever

Have you ever taken a good hard look at a warehouse filled to capacity with… stuff? I have. I remember back in the Winter of 2006, I was working with PANASONIC’s North American Division on some Document Solutions sales projects, and it was never less than a shocking experience to see how the warehouse of one particular dealership was stacked –- nearly to the roof — with junk. We were selling and servicing clients who covered a full spectrum of operations, from SOHO (small/home-based) to enterprise-level… and it simply blew my mind to see what a state of disarray everything was in. Somehow, things got done… but things also got broken, lost, and confused as the orders would come in, and whenever you needed to get your hands on something, the cavernous warehouse defiantly dared you to make an expedition into its inner recesses. I was one of those guys that was gunning for a new warehouse manager ASAP, because I didn’t have the time or energy to figure out how to separate old from new, broken from functional, and treasures from trash.

warehouse mess

What’s in your warehouse?

Now it’s the middle of 2009, and we are dealing with an economy that doesn’t know where it wants to be at any particular moment… and customers who are tired of the run-around. Dropshipping is the new industry standard, as wholesalers and even retailers are beginning to see that letting a seller manage the sales, while the manufacturers and distributors can simply route the goods directly to the customer… is a good idea that has finally come to light.

What’s the secret to dropshipping? Is there something you need to know, in order to get in on the action? Not so much, really. There are, however, some steps you might want to take that will give you the advantage when trying to get your operation going in a customer-centric direction, while utilizing dropshipping channels. Here then, is my quick TopTen list of things to know when looking into the dropshipping option:

  • Many online wholesale sources are getting keen, and they are improving their interface for ease of use, even for the newbies out there.

  • Several of them are also listening more closely, as users report flaws or offer insights… and changes are made accordingly.

  • With competition so ferocious, there is an emerging breed of legitimate companies that are going through great lengths to preserve their credibility in their markets.

  • A lot of these companies are erasing borders by offering improved services for shipping internationally. There’s about 6 billion people in the world. Some of them should be buying from you, shouldn’t they?

  • Membership has its privileges, and many sites are offering some substantial data to their members. Demographic research could be a few clicks away for you.

  • Some great customer service is emerging from all of this.

  • Efficiency might never be so easy. As this becomes more common, the processes involved will evolve as well.

  • Reputation is everything, and many of the sites are quick to showcase their best partners.

  • Shipping charges are not your problem any more, in some cases. Competition will make this more common as well.

  • You will become more competitive, and your sales will grow as you develop your business over time.

Sounds easy, and maybe even fun. Of course, there are a lot of potential pitfalls out there, and it’s a well-known fact that there are scams aplenty on our beloved Wild, Wild West a.k.a the Internet… but you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t appreciate the allure of being rewarded for taking a chance on a venture, would you? One thing’s certain: I wouldn’t be writing this from all the way out in China, if there weren’t some adventure-seekers out there!

Sourcing Your Wholesale Operation, with China? (part 03)

If you’ve been following my posts for the last two days, you can see that there is a lot of stuff to consider when doing business with China, but it’s not really a mystery… it’s just a serious exercise in patience, common sense, and due diligence. I can’t stress the last part enough: due diligence. Many a hopeful businessperson has run away screaming, after getting sucked into the never-ending spiral of being forced to do business the Chinese way, while foolishly trying to do it the Western way.

Now, I would never tell anyone not to give it a try… after all, I live in China, and I have been doing just fine for 3 years… but the truth is that there are a lot of things that can go wrong , and it can result in some big losses for both sides if you aren’t up-to-speed with how this works. I’ll be addressing some of the more specific Chinese business strategies for the laowai (foreigner) in later posts, so keep watching.

For now, I’ll share some insights dedicated to the last item of my little list, and as you can see, this is perhaps the most important one:

- the biggest Trade Fair in China
- the Internet and you
- Networks and Connections (aka guanxi)

Industry Associations and Groups

What better way to get fully immersed in the world of wholesale and trade with the PRC, than to start a search on some of the trade associations and networks that are already out there? One caveat: most of the really useful ones are in Chinese, so unless you have a translator nearby, they won’t be of much use to you. I’ll be covering some of the English-based sites that you can peruse on your own, in order to give you a good starting point.

Aside from having some good guanxi (the impossible-to-define word for ‘relationships’) there are some great ways to get to know who’s who on the scene, aside from just randomly starting a search on Google. Looking for these can be like hunting for a needle in a haystack, and since this is the Top10 Wholesaler Blog I figured I’d save you a little time by letting you in on a few of them below… my own personal top ten:

- ShanghaiDaily

- China Economic Review

- PKF International “Doing Business In China” Guide

- DiligenceChina

- chinaSMACK

- Stylites in Beijing

- Meshing Consultancy Service Co., Ltd

- ChinaSOLVED

- Go East – Outsourcing to China

- Global Sourcing Council

Do you notice a pattern here? That’s right, there isn’t any. In order to make the most of your attempts to build connections and learn how things flow in China, you must become a bit of a ‘China expert’, and that’s the awful truth. Besides having a trusted counterpart to handle things for you, there is no substitute for holding the cards yourself. Take some time to explore these sites, and make sure to take some notes as you begin building your database of tips to help you along the way. I’ll be here to lend a hand, so don’t hesitate to comment!
